Radio Upgrade Fundraiser! This Summer, 2005,
help the WiFi Coop in the Berkeley Marina to become even
better. We're going to replace our home made dual
radio access point, with super reliable Cisco 1310s, and
our home made antennas with Cisco 14dbi gain sectors!
Radio Fund Raiser Status:
Two Cisco antennas donated to us by Bill Woodcock!
Fund raising goal: $2000 (for 2 Cisco BR1310)
Donations received to date: $300
Mission
WiFi Coop aims to replace all for-profit networks with one global
network managed by volunteers and financed by a small membership fee.
A WiFi Coop member can use any access point that is part of the network
without any additional charges, anywhere in the world.
The time has come to provide a global network owned and
operated by the People of the world, and not by any government or
corporation bent on profits or control.
Make a donation of any amount. WiFi Coop can use any donations to add bandwidth, and continue to improve the network.
Documents
WiFi Coop is based on the ideas of sustainability, ubiquity and widespread ownership. We've got lots of work to do, but the basic premise is found in the essay: Free Vs. Cooperative Networks.
The basic idea for how the WiFi Coop should work is contained in the WiFi Coop White Paper
